Jerusalem - Post Report Question and Answers

How do you send and receive your letters and package mail? Are local postal facilities adequate?

DPO. It's very slow and takes three weeks (on average) for delivery. Local mail and local delivery is not great. For sending items outside of DPO internationally, you might want to try DHL, which has had better service than FedEx. For sending mail in Israel or Area C of the West Bank, you may wish to look at a private courier service rather than Israel Post. For sending mail in Areas A and B of the West Bank, or to Jordan or Egypt, you may want to try the private courier service Aramex. - Nov 2022

DPO and Pouch are good for packages but letter mail seems to take forever (6-8 weeks) which is problematic if you've got business in the states or need to replace a lost credit card. Israeli post is broadly considered unreliable even among locals, and I wouldn't use if for anything more important than a birthday card. - Oct 2019

DPO and Pouch; things take a little while so don't think one week will cut it when ordering things. - May 2015

Use DPO/pouch. Sometimes it's a very quick turn-around, less than a week, when sent "Priority." Sending back to the U.S. takes twice as long. - Mar 2014

The fastest DPO ever. - Aug 2013

I use the military postal system or the diplomatic pouch. DPO mail arrives in around one week and pouch in just short of three weeks. - Jul 2013

We have APO and an address in Virginia. - Feb 2009
