Berlin - School Report Question and Answers

How would you rate the school's support and welcome/integration of new students and their families, and why?

In general, all the initial steps of the school were positive. For us, the quality of the integration fell precipitously after that initial welcome. The children of the school are very accustomed to students coming and going, and both of my kids felt welcomed by students. Teachers are largely welcoming too, but that is also really hit or miss. - Sep 2018

There is a buddy-family program and the school offers a special Student Ambassador program and welcome day for new families before the school year starts to help ease new students in. - Oct 2015

B/C Having come from several previous international private schools, I can say that there is not as much hand-holding in the beginning as I am used to. The first week was difficult: adjusting to the new language, different school supplies, more independence, large school, etc. We had lots of playdates the first two months to help our kids get to know the kids in their classes. I found the kids welcoming and to not exclude newcomers. The school does hold an orientation session and there is a parent coffee group. In the beginning, you have to make the effort to get involved and get to know people but everyone has been so willing to answer my plethora of questions. - Apr 2014
