There is something called "Hort" that is both before and after school daycare. You'll have to apply through the local government to get the "gutschein" (or coupon) to qualify. Don't know about the costs. For our first year here, our younger child went to a non-Hort afterschool care, and it was very inexpensive (3 euro/hr). That price has significantly increased since and we no longer use it, but it's available. In general this kind of care is decent. - Sep 2018
