Beijing - School Report Question and Answers

Are there are any problems with exclusionary behavior, cliques, or bullying at this school? Please describe any problems your children may have experienced in this area.

None of my children have experienced it, but I have heard of exclusionary behavior from other parents. The school has a proactive, well developed anti-bullying curriculum and counselors get involved when an instance of exclusion or inappropriate behavior occurs, looping in principals as needed. - Jun 2023

WAB makes social and emotional learning such a strong part of their curriculum to prevent some of these things. They learn to allow for many perspectives, to deal with conflict, and to support one anther. It seems to be a very inclusive school, with a majority of kids being expats who are used to moving around and accepting new kids quickly. The few instances of bullying I've been aware of have been taken very seriously and addressed by the counseling and administration. - Dec 2022

WAB has zero tolerance for bullying and are proactive in educating the community and parents on this topic. Any conflicts between children are worked on and seen as a learning opportunity. - Nov 2022

The students that have spent most of their schooling there are pretty tight. Even the PTA is all Chinese and conducts their business in Chinese. The backgrounds of most of the students are quite wealthy, privileged and exclusive. No bullying just a sense of not belonging or having common ground. - Apr 2018
