Lilongwe - School Report Question and Answers

How is the overall communication between teachers and parents, and the administration and parents? How is communication facilitated?

Communication is usually a weekly email that goes out from Head of Primary School (similar for Secondary). Most teachers, I think, email parents once a week with a general summary of the week. However, there is no way to communicate directly with teachers, or vice versa - like short updates regarding your specific child. In my experience, the administration is not very responsive to issues or concerns, even if they are community-wide (e.g. lack of after school activities, no buses - there is no forum for raising these issues and individual emails don't seem to achieve anything). - Jan 2022

C Most of the teachers, when asked would arrange a meeting outside the scheduled parent teacher meetings. However, without access to regular computers, setting up the appointment involved days of sending notes to and from with your children! - Jan 2011

C/D- Some teachers are very good but it is of their own volition that this happens. Our first two years at the school, I would have given and F for this, but this past year, the school administration in conjunction with the pTA have tried to improve this aspect and signs of this have been evident. - Jul 2010
