Budapest - Post Report Question and Answers

What is your home city/country? How long is the trip to post from there, with what connections? How easy/difficult is it to travel to this city/country?

We are from the northeast US. Surprisingly, there are not many direct flights to Budapest from the east coast of the US. LOT Airlines recently began a non-stop flight from JFK. However, LOT is not on the Fly America Act, so you will likely be transiting through one of the European hubs if coming from Washington DC. We went via Amsterdam, but there are lots of options. - Feb 2020

Washington, D.C. Transit through Frankfurt or Paris for pet friendly airlines (avoid Munich due to recent change in policy). - Dec 2017

Home base is Minneapolis. A flight on Delta with a layover at JFK will take approximately 15 hours total. - Apr 2010


It was very easy getting back and forth to work. We hardly ever drove our car, and on public transport it would take about 30-40 minutes. - Dec 2009
