Buses and trams are safe and affordable. Buses and trams are safe and go all over the city for less than US $0.25, though they do get crowded at rush hour. Taxis are cheap, but make sure you get a taxi with a meter and that it is used; taxi drivers tend to view foreigners as a windfall, especially if the foreigner doesn't speak the language.
