Guayaquil - Post Report Question and Answers

Are there any particular mental health issues that tend to crop up at post, such as Seasonal Affective Disorder (winter blues)?

Not that I am aware of - Aug 2022

I have never worked in an office with morale as low as it is here. A lot of that is attributable to the security situation, but not all. In the last year, several people have departed post early. Certain sections are critically understaffed with no real plans to resolve the issue, leaving the staff that remain overworked and likely to get burnt out. The unhappiness here is a combination of the worsening security situation, the lack of things to do in the city, and, in my opinion, poor management at work in some sections. - Jun 2022

A lot of stress and frustration stems from the horrible traffic in Guayaquil. Traffic issues aren't really due to gridlock or density, but rather the way in which Guayaquileños drive. It is probably some of the worst driving in the hemisphere or beyond. Be patient and remind yourself to stay calm. - Feb 2019
