Are there problems with ethnic, race/racial minorities or religious prejudices? Gender equality?
There is the tension between the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots due to the occupation of Northern Cyprus. I haven't experienced any prejudice (and I am a person of colour). On the whole, Cypriots are cautions and guarded people, and will be so with foreigners until they get to know who you are. Generally they are curious about where you are visiting from, and if you engage in conversation with them, they tend to relax and open up a bit more. - Jun 2006
