What is the availability and cost of household help, and what types of help are typically employed by expatriates?

Help is readily available, but quality varies. Most household help is around US$100- $125 per month. - Sep 2016

Plenty are available but with very limited skills. Be prepared to teach them how you want things done. Very affordable. - Aug 2015

Domestic help is relatively cheap (US$100 or less a month for full-time work). However, you have to be careful about finding staff who do good work and take pride in it. We inherited a gardener from another embassy staff member and it was a horrible experience. - Jun 2014

Very affordable - between 2500 and 3500 Dalasi (about $80) per month for either a gardener, maid, or chef. - Jun 2013

Domestic help is readily available and cheap: $100 per month, but not necessarily very good. It is hard to find someone that would meet U.S. standards, but it can be done. Having said that, we are happy with who we have hired. - Sep 2011
