There is not a lot of English-language media in Chengdu and certainly nothing uncensored. You will want a VPN (virtual private network) installed on your computer before you arrive in order to get around the firewall and access "the real news." You can find the Herald Tribune at a few spots around town and some book stores carry a few English-language books, though not many while we were there. - Aug 2013
