I have noticed when I am doing errands that many vendors/sales people, who speak English, will pretend to speak only French. The attitude that English is something they wish to not be hassled with is clear in some places. I have heard and experienced many stories of not getting anywhere with someone in English, only to have them speak perfect English the next time. - Jul 2009
