Muscat - Post Report Question and Answers

What is the air quality like at post (good/moderate/bad)? Are there seasonal air quality issues? Does the air quality have an impact on health?

Amazing. It is truly the cleanest place I have ever lived in. In fact...if you don't believe me, read this: How Oman's Rocks Could Save The Planet: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/04/26/climate/oman-rocks.html - Jan 2022

In the winter it can get dusty, but it has never impacted my health or that of my child. - Dec 2018

I think it's fine. We only have a few days each year where there is some dust/sand. - Feb 2018

Humid, not too dusty. You don't see it daily in the air even though Oman just ranked pretty high on the scale for Countries with High Air Pollution. I don't think that it would be easy here for people with asthma. - Aug 2017

The air is very clean. Most days are sunshine and blue skies. Occasionally, sand will hang in the air, but nothing near as bad as Iraq. - Oct 2014

Great air quality allows for blue skies most days. Occasional dust storms can be unhealthy, but they doesn't last. - Jun 2012

Can be sandy and dusty. But no pollution. You can open all your windows in the winter, but you will find a fine layer of dust on all of your furniture each morning. - May 2012

Very good. - Aug 2011

Good - Feb 2011

good - Apr 2010

Dust sometimes and many people develop allergies from this. - Feb 2010

Very good, on the whole, no concerns. Because of the heat and dust, on still days there may be a bit of an inversion layer, but nothing too oppressive or intrusive. - Jan 2010
