Muscat - Post Report Question and Answers

What have been the highlights of your time in this country? Best trips or experiences?

Everything. Mountains. Beaches. The warmth of this country is hard to describe. It is truly a hidden gem. - Jan 2022

Too many to name... scuba diving, going to the beach every weekend, wadi hikes, hiking around the beehive tombs, Jebel Al Akhdar, Salalah during the khareef, experiencing Omani hospitality, Salmah plateau, the Sugar Dunes, hiking in the mountains, snorkeling, Daymaniyat Islands, Wahiba Sands, etc. - Dec 2018

It's been fun going hiking during the winter. The beaches are really nice. Camping is a regular activity. The US embassy CLO is great and has organized some really nice day and overnight outings. My advice is to slowly get out and explore. If you try and hit everything all at once you will run out of places to visit and see within your first year - Feb 2018

Camping, Off-roading in the desert, travelling in Oman and to neighboring countries in the region, Europe and East Asia. Many people do a Nepal trek out of here, visit Zanzibar, the Philippines, Thailand and the Seychelles, or Jordan, Tel Aviv etc. There is a lot of convenient and cheap travel out of Oman. - Aug 2017

I really enjoyed the attending the camel races and many of the wadi hikes. Snorkeling is also spectacular and free if you have your own equipment. Anyone who has any amount of time in country also needs to do a desert dune crossing trip and camp along the beach as well as in the interior. Such a great experience. - Oct 2014

Camping on the beach, driving off-road, SCUBA at the Dimaniyat Islands, eating the fresh seafood. - Jun 2012
