There is virtually no crime and it's super safe. I say this is the easiest place to live. It's easy to get from point A to B, housing is nice and ample, the US embassy is nice, the school is nice. It's a very chill and relaxing place to call home. - Feb 2018

Oman's landscape is beautiful and great for hiking, camping, rock climbing, sailing, diving, snorkeling, and swimming. Getting around is easy with a vehicle and most outdoor locations and activities are free. There is an adventure for every level of fitness. - Oct 2014
Winter weather is fabulous for five or six months, with lots of opportunities to camp, bike, or generally enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Muscat is modern, but has maintained its charm and history in a way many oil-rich areas have not been able to. Oman had the advantage of just being beautiful. The sun always shone, the sky was always blue and the water was usually (except during red tide!) perfect. The people were hospitable. We did save a lot of money living there. There is a lot to do and see in Oman if you are willing to get out and go. Some days we would just drive around and see what came our way.
