Are there any unusual problems with insects or other infestations in housing?
Not really, but expect some bugs during the summer months. We’ve managed with exterior spray pesticides and some bug spray as needed indoors (and Terro for ants). - May 2024

Mosquitoes can be pretty bad and the region has had recent dengue outbreaks. Sand fleas are the worse thing here. You'll never see them, but you can get terrible bites around your lower legs that itch horribly and can become infected to the point of requiring anti-biotics. - Jan 2011
