Is it easy to make friends with locals here? Are there any prejudices or any ethnic groups who might feel uncomfortable here?
Easier than other places but still pretty tough. Overall, though this is a very tolerant culture. - Apr 2022
Before I went to Dakar, people who had lived there told me I would never befriend any locals. However, my experience was quite the opposite. I made really good local friends, and was invited to baptisms and local religious celebrations. - Jul 2020
It is very easy to make friends with locals. The Senegalese are tolerant, open-minding, and extremely welcoming: “teranga” is a word you will learn about quickly. You'll most likely get invited to celebrate Tabaski or other local holidays - go and enjoy! - Dec 2019
