Dakar - Post Report Question and Answers

Are there any particular mental health issues that tend to crop up at post, such as Seasonal Affective Disorder (winter blues)?

Dakar can be wonderful but, in my opinion, can be very suffocating what with all the traffic, dust and garbage everywhere. No seasonal blues but some people seem to have a hard time adjusting. - Apr 2022

No. Most of the year, the weather is sunny and nice. - Jul 2020

It gets surprisingly cool in winter (think fleece) and the dust is a surprising detractor, but otherwise no major mental health issues that can be attributed directly to the post. - Dec 2019

The dusty blues, maybe?? - Dec 2018

Yes!! Try and leave every three to four months. Summer here is lonely, everyone seems leaves, and theres not a lot to do. It can be stressful at times, maybe due to communication, lack of supplies, groceries you can't find, just having a bad day; just always have trip planned and that usually helps. Lisbon is a four hour flight, and it's beautiful. . - Dec 2018
