What are some typical ways to socialize, either with local people or with other expatriates? Are there groups or clubs that you can recommend?

Even with a transient intern that would be gone in a few months, I was invited to eat, socialize, and travel with the families of a few local friends. But things can get repetitive… there are a few restaurants and bars that people tend to go to, or more frequently, just have get-togethers at houses. - Aug 2023

There is always a dinner, party or get-together of some sort going on. A large group plays volleyball every sunday on the beach. - Nov 2017

It's in homes and at beach restaurants. There are a few clubs, but that's all - Aug 2009
Many expats have house parties. There are many restaurants that are eager to cater to large groups, or the chef will come to your house to prepare the meal. Restaurants have lake views and/or outdoor garden seating. There are a few bars with live music. - Oct 2008
