What do you wish you had known about this particular city/country before moving there?
It's hotter than you think even though you know it's going to be hot! We came here expecting to be moving into the newly built consulate but delay after delay I don't think it will be finished before we leave post. If you are coming 2024 or later you will get to enjoy the brand new, big, beautiful building. - Jun 2023
Morale can vary. This post can be very hard on single people, especially those in their 20s. I've tried to do everything I can to mitigate that at work, but I can't fix all the issues. - Sep 2022
I wish I would have known how cartel-pervasive this city is, how inadequately DOS FS staffed the consulate is, and how little Mexico City cares about providing adequate full-time DS and DOS FS personnel to properly support this consulate. At the very least, in my opinion, this should be a danger pay post. - Aug 2022
