Canberra - Post Report Question and Answers

Join a hobby club. Sports, crafts, volunteering, arts are all represented here. Websites are in English. They're on social media. There are a ton of resources and like-minded people of all stripes here. - May 2023

I joined a book club that included other Americans, and I was part of a group of mums who ran, but otherwise, as noted above, you make your own fun. It mostly just feels like you are in the US living your life most of the time (except for the accents and the kangaroos in the streets). - Aug 2020

Not much, BBQ at the park? - May 2012

Lots of options. You have to work a bit to find the spots you like, but you can find pretty much anything you would want to do here. Canberra can be sleepy sometimes, but there is a lot of fun to be found if you go looking for it. - May 2011

BBQs are popular, of course! - Nov 2010

They have a lot of membership clubs here, depending on your interests/sports. - Oct 2009

Social life is ok. Being a small city you get small city entertainment. But Sydney is onlya 3 hour dirve if you need a big city fix. - Apr 2009
