Are there problems with ethnic, race/racial minorities or religious prejudices? Gender equality?

Anyone with any discernibly non-white heritage can expect anything ranging from micro aggressions to open racism on a daily if not weekly basis - less in Berlin than in some other parts of Germany, but it's there. Germans will frequently say that racism is "an American problem" but it's definitely a German problem too. That said, if you're amenable you can find really robust communities outside the Embassy community. - Aug 2023
