What do you wish you had known about this particular city/country before moving there?

If you really enjoy the work and advantages of living in the developing world then this might not be the place for you. It is expensive. There is not a lot of interesting work since you are in the middle of safe, well-developed, rich, western Europe. There might be some interesting Greenlandic/Artic issues to work on. Expect work to be boring and life outside the Embassy to be easy and mostly enjoyable. - Feb 2022

It is hard to grasp what a Nordic winter really is like. It didn't bother me but it was still a shock. It really doesn't get super cold like I thought it would (rarely gets below 20F) but it officially rains 175 days a year and there's only five or six hours of gloomy "sunlight" during the winter. - May 2014


If you haven't been on a bike since elementary school, get some practice prior to arrival. Morning rush hour is not the time to figure out that you aren't very good at going through a crowd. - Feb 2014
