Dili - Post Report Question and Answers

Knowing what you know now, would you still move to this city?

Absolutely. Love it here. - Aug 2021

Yes, for sure. It's a definite hardship post, but very livable if you learn to embrace the positives. You will get to know your neighbors and enjoy quality time with your family and new friends. - Sep 2017

Yes I believe so. Taking advantage of what each post offers is key in enjoying your time there and I have enjoyed the quiet and laid back life. - May 2017

Of course. - Sep 2016

In a heart beat. - Nov 2013

Yes. We have two small children and we love it here. The school is good and it's safe and friendly. The pace of life is slower here and takes some getting used to after being in DC, but the beach and small town atmosphere of Dili are great. - Apr 2013

Because of the differential, student loan repayment and availability of help, yes. Just come with a good attitude, that makes ALL the difference. If you are in the state department you signed up for a job thats a wild ride and with lots of adventure. Nothing irks me more then people who complain about posts that can be great fun if you just change your perspective. If you come to Dili you will only be here for two years, make the best of it!! - Mar 2010

Yes, my family is very happy here in Dili. - Feb 2010
