Chiang Mai - Post Report Question and Answers
What is your home city/country? How long is the trip to post from there, with what connections? How easy/difficult is it to travel to this city/country?
Home is the east coast of the USA. It is a 14 hour flight from the major east coast cities (Boston, NYC, Washington DC, Atlanta) to usually Hong Kong or Tokyo, then another 6 hours to Bangkok and finally a 1 hour flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, often requiring an overnight in Bangkok. However there are more flights now that skip Bangkok entirely, shaving quite a bit of time and hassle off the trip. For example, you can fly through Seoul or Doha directly to Chiang Mai. - Mar 2019
