How very hard it is to do anything outside and how far away the beaches are. The people who enjoy spending time at home with alone or with family seem to be happier than the people who would like to get out of the city more. - Mar 2015

Day-to-day life is very, very hard. I have never seen a country so covered in trash and filth. People are very rude and disrespectful. Although there were many unforgettable experiences, the time and challenge to do them is taxing. Want to go to Shipwreck Beach? Plan two hours each way in stop-and-go traffic, your car may be broken into while you are there and you will be harassed into paying a "guide." Want to go to dinner across town? Expect a two-mile ride to take nearly two hours, the service to be poor and there is a chance little will be on the menu. That said, there can be some welcome discoveries and enriching experiences --- they will just be rare. - Aug 2014
