What are some typical ways to socialize, either with local people or with other expatriates? Are there groups or clubs that you can recommend?

There is quite a bit to do in Riga, and Latvia in general. Riga has a known restaurant and bar culture, but also has pretty much anything you could imagine doing. Some friend of ours found a curling place and organized a trip there, as a random example of what you can find. Going to the beach is popular, it's 20 minutes from central Riga and super popular in the summer. - Mar 2022

There are a lot of good bars and pubs all around Riga. Professional Hockey, basketball, and soccer teams are fun to watch. Riga seems to be the place for the British and German stag parties. - Aug 2008
