What are some typical ways to socialize, either with local people or with other expatriates? Are there groups or clubs that you can recommend?

The beach is the obvious answer, but also some have joined a scuba diving club, hiking clubs, volunteering at one of the animal shelters, church groups, etc. - Aug 2019


Many people join scuba diving clubs, hang out at the beach, attend embassy sponsored events. There is an American Employee Association and an American Women’s Club. - May 2018


BADASSN is the local expat diving club, and there are historical societies that do hikes, hashes and sailing clubs. If you like the ocean and water sports you will never be bored; if you're not that into them, you will have a rough time. - Jul 2016

There are touristy spots, local nightclubs and local rum shops/bars, but this is a small island with accordingly limited options. Much entertaining is done in homes and surrounds families. Locals are welcoming and accepting of expats. - Dec 2010
