Rome - Post Report Question and Answers

What are some interesting/fun things to do in the area? Can you recommend any “hidden gems"?

If I give away my hidden gems, they won't be hidden anymore. Naples is an awesome area, if you do it right. Ask some locals for recommendations and stop visiting old churches, they are all the same. Almalfi coast is overrated. - Sep 2022

Huge array of day/weekend trips out of the city. Rome also has reasonable skiing nearby. Music and cultural events every night of the week. - Oct 2014

Ruins, museums, concerts, opera, theater, movies (a couple of theaters also have films in original language), day-trips, okay beaches nearby, people-watching, and Italian restaurants. - May 2013

There are the everyday fun things like enjoying cappuccino, eating gelato, sitting in a piazza, drinking wine, and seeing the sites. There's also the theatre, concerts, karaoke bars, catacombs, throwing lock keys into the Tiber, and seeing the Pope. - Apr 2012

It's Italy--ruins, agriturismos, olive orchards, vineyards and winetasting. Lining up at the beach if you're into the crowds. - Aug 2010

So much... the Forum, the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Vatican, Churches... it's endless, especially if you travel outside the city as well. - Apr 2009

Goodness. It's Rome.... Italy...Europe!! If you love ruins, there's the Collosseum and the Forum. If you love museums, there's the Vatican museums and Galleria Borghese. If you love to hike, swim, go to the beach, ski, it's all within an hour's drive of Rome. There's no shortage of things to do here. And when you get bored with Rome, there's the rest of Italy, or Europe, or even Northern Africa. - Feb 2008

Good Lord, where do I start? It's the eternal city! It is not possible to spend three years here and see and do everything. It just isn't possible. - Feb 2008
