From DC, government folks take the United/Austrian Airlines codeshare. It's about ten hours direct. If you have to connect somewhere I'd avoid any layovers in Frankfurt. I'd take Heathrow over it every day and twice on Sundays. A truly horrible, crowded, miserable place. Avoid at all costs if traveling with a small child. - Apr 2008
