Modena - Post Report Question and Answers

How would you describe the availability and cost of groceries and household supplies relative to your home country?

Grocery stores are very prevalent, but you will have to really watch the hours. Our local shop would often be closed on Mondays or Thursdays, and would never open before 10am. It was closed between 1 and 3, and then closed for the day around 7. However, just outside of the city you'll find large malls and grocery stores which are not subject to the same strange set of hours, so nothing's impossible! Again, food is pretty inexpensive, as long as you buy items that are local. The availability of 'foreign' food is rare and marked up, so I wouldn't look for it. Particularly any Mexican/Tex-Mex. - Sep 2014
