Vientiane - Post Report Question and Answers
Are qualified veterinarians and/or good kennel services available? Do animals need to be quarantined upon entry to the country? Are there other considerations regarding pets that are particular to this country?
There is a decent vet in town. There is no quarantine. The US embassy was very unhelpful in providing information for pet import. The Laos government is also unhelpful. It is possible to travel to Laos via South Korea with a pet in cabin the whole way—I did it—but most people pay for a pet shipper. - Dec 2024
People have brought dogs and cats here but it appears to be a process to bring their pets to Vientiane from Bangkok. Since we didn't bring any pets, we can't really comment on the details. - Mar 2024

Yes. No quarantine required. The fact that there are many dogs and cats roaming the streets makes it difficult to walk your dog. - Oct 2018
We did not bring a pet into the country, but I do not believe there was any quarantine. Remember to contact GSO with size of pet containers and information on your pet. There were two recommended vets that I recall. Stray dogs are abundant here. - Jan 2014
