Vientiane - Post Report Question and Answers
Do you feel that it is safe to walk, run or hike outside? Are there areas where bike riding is possible? What is the availability and safety of outdoor space for exercising? Are these easily accessible?
Being outside is a crapshoot. I walk avidly and manage to do so in Vientiane. Often I'm frustrated at the amount of car exhaust, smoke, and other air pollution I breathe in, however. Cycling to get from point A to B is doable, but risky, though that is the case almost everywhere around the world. But people do it. Sadly, the number of cars in Laos grows by the day and fewer locals cycle. - Dec 2024
Some people run outside but there are stray animals and not a lot of sidewalks to run. There's not much outdoor space for exercising here. - Mar 2024
