How much of the local language do you need for daily living? Are local language classes/tutors available and affordable?
English is spoken everywhere. Irish is required as a class in school. It is a fairly difficult language but it is very rewarding to learn. Certain areas like Dingle are Irish speaking and you would hear it and see the road signs in Irish. You can get by without it, but why live here in the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking area)and not learn. - Feb 2009
